The duo from Granada, with one of the most praised debut albums of 2023, recounts how they face the two sides of success just as they take on their biggest concerts.
Indio and Nitro, both 25 years old and from Granada, make up the emerging music group La Plazuela. Their debut album, Roneo Funk Club, released in 2023, was a fusion of flamenco, rap, and electronic music. After a year of avoiding interviews due to the overwhelming media exposure, they are now ready to reconnect with their audience. The two friends, who met in kindergarten, had transformative experiences in their youth when Nitro spent a year in Mexico due to family financial difficulties, and Indio participated in an exchange program in India. These experiences strongly influenced their decision to pursue a career in music. They started by playing covers in Granada’s bars and gradually shaped their unique musical style. Their lyrics, while encouraging dance and fun, often tackle tough subjects like domestic violence, reflecting their generation’s struggle with mental health. The duo recently moved to Madrid for professional reasons, but they continue to celebrate their Granada roots. They are currently preparing for their most significant concerts yet, expecting audiences of around 10,000 in Barcelona, Madrid, Seville, and Granada. They are also working on an EP, La Caleta, dedicated to the Granada coast.
