Filmmaker Juan Antonio Bayona swept the Goya Awards with 12 awards for his film «La sociedad de la nieve», including Best Picture, giving Netflix its first win at these awards. Bayonne responded to criticism of the Vox group, calling it a «noise» to be ignored. He celebrated talent in Spain and the growing inclusion of women in directing roles, although he noted the decline in resources in the film industry. Bayonne stressed the need for a strong audience for cinema and the importance of viewers returning to theatres. The film is also nominated for Best International Film and Best Makeup and Hair at the Oscars. In addition, Estibaliz Urresola, director of «20,000 species of bees», won three awards, including Best New Director and Best Original Screenplay.
