An NGO for children with disabilities to make friends: «You go to the park and the children do not come»

Best Buddies organizes leisure environments for children with intellectual or developmental disabilities and without it, eight out of 10 families notice improvement in the socialization

The non-profit organization Best Buddies organizes recreational activities for children with and without intellectual disabilities to promote social inclusion and diversity. The NGO, which currently operates only in Madrid, was founded by Óscar Ocaña and Mónica Mir, parents of a child with intellectual disabilities. The activities, which are held every two weeks, are designed and directed by an occupational therapist and volunteers from the Once Foundation. According to the organization, eight out of ten families participating in the activities notice an improvement in the socialization of their children.
