American actress recognized her work by receiving the International Goya Award this Saturday
The Spanish voiceover actress, Maria Lluïsa Solà, who dubs for Sigourney Weaver, expressed her surprise and excitement when Weaver acknowledged her during her International Goya Award acceptance speech. Solà, who has been in the profession for decades, stated that this recognition gave visibility to the entire profession. In an interview, Solà mentioned that she would love to meet Weaver in person and express her gratitude. She also highlighted that she puts in 100% effort to honor the work of the actresses she dubs for, but it’s their performance that leads. Solà, who has about 3,000 titles to her credit, stated that she and her colleagues strive to demonstrate the significance of Spanish dubbing. However, she also expressed concern about the threat posed by artificial intelligence to the dubbing industry.
