This has been MWC 2024, an edition more focused on technology than on mobile phones

The Mobile World Congress turns 18 as the world’s largest technology fair with record-breaking attendance.

At the Mobile World Congress 2024, the spotlight was more on telephony technology than on mobiles themselves, with the presentation of robots, «flying» cars, Al developments in mobile telephony, and transparent and flexible screens. As GSMA General Director, Mats Granryd, highlighted, this edition was different due to the significant impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and its application with 5G and platforms, which can work together to provide superior services to consumers. Visitors experienced this firsthand by interacting with AMECA, the most advanced Al robot to date featuring OpenAl’s GPT-4 language model, and the Al Pin from Humane, a wearable device that allows users to ask questions and give instructions to a virtual assistant through voice and gestures. However, the star attraction of the fair was the first «flying» car. Manufactured in California, USA, it’s 100% electric with a range of 320 kilometers on the road and 170 kilometers in flight. The price tag: $300,000
